1 building/1483/Izawa-cho, Enmei-ji Temple, Kirizuma style
Prefecturally-designated tangible cultural property / (Structure) (January 23, 2014)
Enmei-ji is a Jodoshu temple on the left bank of the Kushida-river that was built in 1483.
As the oldest wooden building in Matsusaka it possesses both history and a stately appearance.
The Temple gate is constructed in the traditional Japanese architectural style called “Yotsuashimon.”
Its roof is gently curved, and it presents a demure appearance due to the scarcity of decorative elements.
The main parts of the gate preserve the Muromachi period construction style extremely well.
